CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP)—Florentino Valencia had 21 points and six rebounds to lead Toledo over Virginia Commonwealth in the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam on Monday.
Keonta Howell added 18 points and five rebounds for Toledo (2-2).
Virginia Commonwealth was led by Jesse Pellot-Rosa, who nailed a three-pointer with 1.7 seconds left to bring the Rams within one. He was bumped while shooting, but no foul was called.
Pellot-Rosa finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Eric Maynor added 11 points, five rebounds and four assists for Virginia Commonwealth (2-2).
The Rockets finished fifth in the tournament. Virginia Commonwealth finished sixth.
