BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Tyrone Brazelton scored 15 points and had five assists as Western Kentucky beat Tennessee State 87-69 in the Hilltoppers’ home opener Sunday.
The game was close until the Hilltoppers (3-0) went on a 25-3 run in the second half.
Western Kentucky went down 7-0 in the game’s opening minutes until Courtney Lee converted two free throws after a technical foul on Courtney Bohannon.
Lee scored 10 points off 3-of-6 shooting and had a team-high nine rebounds.
The Hilltoppers shot 48 percent from the field, and only 54 percent from the free throw line. The Tigers shot 39 percent from the field.
Clarence Matthews led Tennessee State (0-1) with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, 15 in the first half.
