ATHENS, Ohio (AP)—Whitney Davis scored 19 points and Leon Williams added 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead Ohio to a 73-65 win over Yale on Sunday.
Yale (1-1) led by as much as eight points twice in the first half, but the Bobcats (2-0) started a 10-0 run with 2:36 remaining to take a 34-30 halftime lead and never trailed after that. The Bulldogs managed to tie the score at 36 on a dunk by Matt Kyle with 17:55 left, but Ohio scored 11 straight points to pull away, 47-36.
Davis was 5-of-9 from the field, made seven of nine free throw attempts and had six rebounds. Ohio’s Kenneth Van Kempen finished with 15 points and Jerome Tillman added 10.
The Bobcats scored 23 points off Yale’s 16 turnovers.
Eric Flato led the Bulldogs with 16 points and Jason Abromaitis had 10 points and seven rebounds. Yale outrebounded the Bobcats 35-32.
