PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP)—Nathan Eads scored 16 points and Keenan Jeppesen added 13 to lead Brown past Providence 51-41 on Saturday night.
It was the lowest scoring game in the 27 years in the 113-game rivalry. Providence (1-1), which won the past three meetings, holds a 87-26 edge.
Sharaud Curry scored 14 points and Herbert Hill added 10 points for the Friars (1-1), who led 29-19 early in the second half.
Brown went on a 15-4 run and took a 34-33 lead on two free throws by Eads.
Providence shot just 34 percent from the field overall, and only 18 percent in the second half. The Friars didn’t score a field goal in the last 10:55 as the Bears pulled away.
Mark McAndrews added 11 points and three assists for Brown.
Brown shot 8 of 16 in the second half and made 15 of 20 foul shot attempts.
