PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP)—Herbert Hill tied his career high with 22 points as Providence beat Fairleigh Dickinson 96-71 in the season opener for both teams on Tuesday night.
Sharaud Curry added 18 points and Jeff McDermott had 16 points on 7 of 11 shooting to go with a game-high nine rebounds for the Friars. Weyinmi Efejuku had 13 points for Providence.
Andre Harris led Fairleigh Dickinson with 17 points. Michael Peeples, Cameron Tyler and Manny Ubilla each had 12 points for Fairleigh Dickinson.
Hill hit 10 of 11 shots from the field. Hill paced Providence in the first half by hitting all six of his shots and Providence led 55-26 at halftime. The Friars never trailed.
The Knights shot 9 of 35 from the field in the first half.
