EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP)—Sefton Barrett led a balanced attack with 14 points to help Central Michigan beat Brown 71-58 on Thursday night in a regional consolation game of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic.
Barrett was 4-for-5 from the field and also led an aggressive defense for the Chippewas (1-1) with four steals.
Giordan Watson had 13 points and six steals for Central Michigan in its first win under new head coach Ernie Zeigler. Ernie Spencer added 11 points.
Nathan Eads scored 12 points and Marcus Becker added 10 for Brown (0-2).
It was 23-all when Central Michigan scored the last seven points of the first half and three more to start the second.
The Chippewas shot 50 percent from the field and took advantage of the Bears’ 19 turnovers.
