EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP)—Jeremy Chappell sank a three-pointer with 12.3 seconds left to give Robert Morris at 67-66 victory over Mount St. Mary’s in the opening round of the Northeast Conference Tournament Thursday night.
Chappell scored a game-high 25 points for Robert Morris (15-13), and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Mount St. Mary’s (13-17) had a 62-59 lead with 3:06 left before Robert Morris went on a 5-0, giving the Colonials a 64-62 lead with 1:27 left.
Kiel Butler’s jumper with 1:01 left tied the game and the Mount got the ball back with 41 seconds left after Robert Morris’ Derek Coleman’s missed a jumper.
Kiel Butler scored a team-high 18 points for Mount St. Mary’s. Mychal Kearse added 12 points, and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
