BALTIMORE (AP)—West Otis hit two free throws with six seconds remaining in overtime, lifting Coppin State to a 65-64 victory over North Carolina A&T on Saturday night.
Trahern Chaplin missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer that would have given the Aggies the win.
Darryl Proctor scored 16 points, Talmadge Bell had 13 and Darryl Roberts added 10 for the Eagles (11-14, 11-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who won their fourth consecutive game.
Jason Wills scored 23 points and Greg Roberts added 10 for North Carolina A&T (4-19, 4-9).
Otis gave the Eagles a 63-62 lead on a 15-foot jumper with 27 seconds left in overtime, but the Aggies answered when Wills hit a layup with nine seconds remaining, setting up Otis’ heroics.
Coppin State led 29-22 at halftime, but the Aggies came back to tie it at 58 at the end of regulation.
The Aggies missed two potential game-winning shots, including a layup, as the second half expired. North Carolina A&T shot just 37.7 percent from the field, including 5-for-30 from 3-point range.
