PEORIA, Ill. (AP)—Marcellus Sommerville scored 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting Tuesday night to lead Bradley in a 72-60 win over Southern Illinois.
Sommerville connected on two 3-pointers for the Braves (15-9, 9-7 Missouri Valley), who held a 31-25 halftime lead thanks to 61 percent shooting in the first half. The Braves kept it up in the second, connecting on 58 percent of their field goals while holding Southern Illinois to 44 percent shooting.
Randal Falker led the way for the Salukis (18-8, 11-5), matching Sommerville’s 24 points and adding nine rebounds and two steals. Falker made 10 of his 11 field goal attempts, but Southern Illinois could not keep up with the Braves’ hot shooting. Jamaal Tatum scored 12 points with five assists in the loss.
Bradley’s Patrick O’Bryant was perfect from the field, scoring 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting. Tony Bennett added 11 points for the Braves, who never trailed.
