Holy Cross 60, Colgate 42
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP)—Kevin Hamilton scored 24 points to lead Holy Cross to a 60-42 win over Colgate on Wednesday night.
Hamilton scored 14 during a decisive 26-7 run at the start of the second half.
Simon Knight scored nine points to lead Colgate (7-13, 1-5 Patriot).
Holy Cross (11-9, 4-1) led 26-23 at halftime despite shooting only 26 percent from the floor. After Hamilton gave the Crusaders an early 11-7 lead, Colgate’s Kyle Roemer scored a 3-pointer to ignite an 11-0 run.
Marc Daniels’ dunk of an offensive rebound gave Colgate an 18-11 lead with 7:03 remaining. Torey Thomas then scored six points as the Crusaders edged in front at the half.
Holy Cross opened the second half with 10 unanswered points sparked by its defense. Tim Clifford blocked three shots and Hamiltion scored seven points, including a 3-pointer.
Colgate’s Alvin Reed hit a 3-pointer but Hamilton answered with another one to start a 12-0 surge. On the next possession he made a steal and drew an intentional foul. He added two free throws and Thomas scored another field goal.
Keith Simmons then had a dunk and contributed a 3-pointer for a 52-30 lead with six minutes left.
