GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP)—Trahern Chaplin scored 25 points to lead North Carolina A&T to a 78-71 win over Coppin State on Saturday.
North Carolina A&T (2-13, 2-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led by 12 at halftime and never trailed in the second half.
The Eagles (4-13, 4-2) closed to 70-66 with less than three minutes in the second half on a Tywain McKee 3-pointer, but North Carolina A&T answered with a layup by Christopher Faison and a free throw by Michael Hayes to make the score 73-66 with 33 seconds left.
Hayes was the Aggies’ second-leading scorer with 14 points, and the team shot 51.8 percent from the floor.
McKee led the Eagles with 20 points, including four 3-pointers, but Coppin State shot only 39.7 percent in the contest.
