LSU 90, McNeese St. 70

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—With 21 points, Glen Davis led five players in double figures as LSU defeated McNeese State 90-70 Saturday.

Darnell Lazare had a career-high 19 points. Darrel Mitchell finished with 18 points, Tasmin Mitchell with 13 and Tyrus Thomas with 11.

LSU (4-1) took control of the game in the first eight minutes of the second half. The Tigers scored the first 10 points after halftime on 3-pointers by Garrett Temple and Darrel Mitchell and field goals by Davis and Tasmin Mitchell. That 10-0 run put LSU ahead 51-34.

After J.T. Williams ended the McNeese drought with a basket, the Tigers then outscored the Cowboys 12-4 to take a 63-40 lead. Lazare started the outburst with a three-point play. Darrel Mitchell concluded the run with six straight points on two foul shots and a pair of field goals.

The Tigers, who won their 55th consecutive game against Louisiana schools, picked up the comfortable victory despite committing 27 turnovers. LSU shot 54 percent (32-of-59) from the field.

Lazare scored 12 points in the first half to help LSU take a 41-34 advantage and made a dunk at the buzzer after McNeese (2-3) reduced its deficit to five points on a 3-pointer and a field goal by John Ford.

The Tigers, who never trailed, went on a 19-10 run to take their biggest lead of the first half at 34-23. Thomas had a three-point play and a field goal, and Lazare made four free throws during that stretch.

Jarvis Bradley led McNeese with 12 points. Troy Aaron added 11, while Ford and Quentin Gonzales came off the bench to score 10 points each for the Cowboys.
