New Hampshire 71, Robert Morris 65
DURHAM, N.H. (AP)—Led by Blagoj Janev’s career-high 20 points New Hampshire defeated Robert Morris 71-65 in a non-conference game Tuesday.
Janev had seven rebounds while teammate Chris Vetrano contributed 18 points, three assists and a steal.
For most of the first half, both teams played an even game and led by no more than four points. But while New Hampshire kept itself out of foul trouble, the Colonials were called on 13 fouls in the half, giving UNH opportunities for 13-of-16 at the line ending the half in UNH’s favor 29-24.
New Hampshire opened the second half on an 11-0 run. Robert Morris didn’t score until A.J. Jackson sank a layup at 14:32. UNH kept the lead throughout the half, leading by as many as 16 points.
The Colonials’ Steve Lancaster converted an open shot 7:31, pulling Robert Morris to within three.
Vetrano sank a 3-pointer at 7:11. With 23 seconds remaining, Janev converted two free throws, putting UNH up by seven. With nine seconds left, Jackson banked a jumper, the final basket of the game.
Jackson registered a double-double for Robert Morris with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
