PEORIA, Ill. (AP)—Marcus Sommerville scored 15 points and had nine rebounds Saturday as Bradley beat Chicago State 68-58 for a 2-0 start.
Tony Bennett added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists for Bradley, which led just 33-32 at the half.
Bradley had to hold off the Cougars, who got a stellar 26-point, 10-rebound game from Royce Parran. Parran shot 11-for-23 from the field. Camron Clay added 14 points for Chicago State (0-2).
Bradley cashed in at the free throw line, making 23-of-33 to only 10-for-12 for the visiting Cougars, who also missed all nine of their 3-point attempts.
