CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP)—Brian Butch scored 23 points to lead Wisconsin to an 80-51 victory over Norfolk State at the Paradise Jam tournament on Friday night.
Butch, a 6-foot-11 junior, shot 3-for-3 from 3-point range and finished with four assists.
Calvin Brown and Tony Murphy each scored 14 points for Norfolk State, which will face Eastern Kentucky on Sunday in its second game of the six-team, round-robin tournament.
The Spartans closed within 15 points with 9 minutes left, but Butch scored on a two-handed dunk and a 3-point bank shot to put the game out of reach.
Norfolk State shot just 11.1 percent from the free-throw line in the second half.
The Badgers play Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
