ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP)—Greg Sprink scored 17 points to lead Navy to a 66-62 win against Bucknell on Sunday.
The Mids (6-14, 2-5 Patriot Division) made 10 of their final 11 free throws to down the Bison.
Navy took the lead for good at 63-62 with 21.7 seconds to go on a pair of free throws by freshman Corey Johnson.
The Mids padded the lead with two more free throws by George O’Garro with 18 seconds left to make it 65-62.
After Kevin Bettencourt missed a 3-point try with nine seconds left for Bucknell, Navy rebounded and with 7.4 seconds left and Sprink sank the clinching free throw.
The win over Bucknell (14-6, 5-2) gave the Mids two straight wins for the first time since Nov. 21-23.
The Mids trailed 36-27 early in the second half but outscored Bucknell 18-7 to take the lead at 45-43 with 10:50 to play.
The two teams battled back and forth from there. Navy led 61-59 when Craig McNaughton put together a 3-point play to give Bucknell the lead at 62-61 with 1:26 left.
Bettencourt led Bucknell with 27 points and became the 30th player in school history to get 1,000 points in his career. McNaughton was the only other Bucknell player in double figures with 11 points.
