BURLINGTON, Vt.—Taylor Coppenrath scored a season-high 39 points as Vermont beat Binghamton 83-53 Sunday.

Coppenrath went 12-for-17 from the floor and 15-for-17 from the foul line. He scored six points and had two assists in a 19-2 run to close out the first half for the Catamounts (3-2, 1-0).

The game tied at 22 with 7:19 left in the period before Vermont took a 36-24 lead into the locker room. Coppenrath, who had a game-high 12 rebounds, scored 23 more points in the second half as Vermont pulled away to the easy win.

The Catamounts outrebounded the Bearcats, 40-36, and committed just eight turnovers.

For the Bearcats (2-6, 0-1) , Troy Hailey scored a team-high 17 points while Nick Billings had 10 points and five rebounds.
