Dayton 79, Texas Southern 60

DAYTON, Ohio (AP)—Monty Scott scored 18 points and Norman Plummer added 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Dayton to a 79-60 win over Texas Southern on Saturday.

The Flyers (3-3) jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the first 5 minutes, and never trailed. They led 48-36 at halftime.

Sean Walker scored 17 points for Texas Southern (2-4), which shot only 28 percent from the field. Mike Sneed had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Justin Wilson scored 11.

The Tigers pulled as close as 9 points in the second half, to 67-58, on Wilson’s 3-pointer with 4:46 to play.

Dayton had a 14-8 edge on second chance points and a 18-2 advantage on fast break points. The Flyers shot 37 percent from the field.

Mark Jones added 14 points for Dayton.
