Preview | Box Score | Recap

PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Chet Stachitas scored 14 points and Dwayne Jones added 12 points, 13 rebounds and six blocked shots to lead Saint Joseph’s past Fairfield 59-51 on Tuesday night.

Saint Joseph’s (2-2) won its 12th consecutive game at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. The Hawks have not lost at home since falling to then-No. 18 Xavier in overtime on March 5, 2003.

The Hawks home streak appeared in jeopardy early in the second half as they held a slim 36-35 lead with 12:47 remaining. But Saint Joseph’s responded with a 15-0 run to push its advantage to 51-35.

During the 15-0 run, Jones scored six points, freshman forward Robert Ferguson scored four points and Pat Carroll connected on a 3-pointer. Stachitas scored three points.

Fairfield (4-3) went 9:17 without a field goal during the run. The Stags converted just 22 of 57 field goals, 39 percent.

Junior guard Terrence Todd led Fairfield with 19 points. He was their only player to score in double figures.

Before the game, Saint Joseph’s raised a banner for its perfect 27-0 regular season in 2003-04. The Hawks honored last year’s co-captain, Tyrone Barley, as well as Brian Jesiolowski from last year’s squad and The Hawk—mascot Chris Bertolino.
