WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP)—Edwin Ofori Attah scored 17 points and Hawley Smith had 16 Wednesday night as William & Mary took a big lead early and beat Longwood 90-60.

The Tribe (3-2) used a 25-7 run to build a 21-point lead after just 13 minutes, led 56-34 at halftime and by no fewer than 11 throughout the second half.

Longwood (0-6), which is in the four-year process of moving from Division II to Division I, got 16 points and seven rebounds from Lamar Barrett, 12 points from Michael Jefferson and 11 from Maurice Sumter. Jefferson missed 13 of his 17 shots.

The Tribe shot nearly 61 percent in the first half, making 20 of 33 shots, and hit 7 of 13 3-pointers in building the big lead. Ofori Attah had 13 points by the break.

In the second half, the Tribe’s starters played sparingly, allowing coach Tony Shaver to empty his bench. By the end, 11 of the 14 players that saw action scored.
