DAYTON, Ohio (AP)—Marques Bennett made all four of his 3-point attempts and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Dayton to a 55-42 win over Coppin State on Saturday.
Monty Scott hit 3 of 5 from long range to add 11 points for Dayton (1-1), which shot 43 percent from 3-point range.
Dayton built a 30-19 halftime lead, but Coppin State (0-2) outscored the Flyers 15-7 over the first nine minutes of the second half to get to within 37-34.
Dayton countered with 4-of-7 3-point shooting—including two by Bennett— to pull away.
Nicholas King scored 13 for Coppin State, and Raheem Scott added 11 points.
Dayton’s Trent Meacham had five assists, and the Flyers bench outscored Coppin State’s reserves 36-9.
