WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP)—Corey Cofield had 24 points and 10 rebounds and William & Mary rallied after trailing for most of the game to beat Radford 81-76 on Saturday night in the championship of the William & Mary Classic.
The Tribe (2-0) trailed by as many as 10 in the second half, but rallied to tie it at 69 with 5:43 to play on two free throws by Cofield, then scored the next four points. The Highlanders (1-1) closed to within two twice, but never got back to even.
Radford was led by Chris Oliver with 23 points and Olumuyiwa Popoola with 19.
Nathan Mann added 14 points for the Tribe, including the 3-pointer that put them ahead to stay with 5:06 left. Hawley Smith had 15 points and Laimis Kisielius added 11.
The Tribe outscored Radford 26-13 from the free-throw line.
