WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP)—Edwin Ofori Attah came off the bench to score 22 points to lead William & Mary to an 84-71 victory over Hartford in the first round of the William & Mary Tip-Off Classic on Friday night.
Ofori Attah was 4-of-6 on 3-pointers to lead four Tribe players in double figures.
Hartford took an early 8-4 lead, but William & Mary (1-0) took the lead for good when Corey Cofield hit a jumper to make it 21-19 with 6:27 left in the first half. It was 32-27 at halftime, and the Tribe opened the second half with a 20-7 run, capped by Hawley Smith’s 3-pointer, to make it 52-34 with 14:56 left.
Hartford (0-1) could get no closer than 9 the rest of the way.
Aaron Cook led Hartford with 25 points. Demarcquez Rembert had 17 and Trevor Goode 11.
Cofield scored 20 and Smith had 19 for the Tribe. Laimis Kisielius added 10.
