MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—Rick Jones scored a career-high 26 points to lead four players in double figures as Murray State beat Tennessee State 88-72 Thursday night.
Jones also had a career-high seven 3-pointers and was 10-of-16 from the line for the Racers (22-5, 12-2 Ohio Valley Conference). Cuthbert Victor had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Kelvin Brown added 14 points and Chris Shumate 13.
Roshaun Bowens led Tennessee State (6-18, 5-8) with 23 points. Bruce Price had 11 rebounds.
Shumate hit a 3-pointer with 13:48 left in the game to give Murray State a 55-47 lead. Jones hit a 3-pointer four minutes later to put the Racers on top 65-51.
The Tigers drew to 69-60 with 6:50 left on a free throw by Jeremy Jackson but came no closer as the Racers pulled away to their biggest lead of the half, 81-63, on a free throw by Kelvin Brown.
Murray State led 47-37 at halftime.
