DALLAS (AP)—Bryan Hopkins scored 17 points as Southern Methodist beat San Jose State 73-58 on Saturday night.
Hopkins was 6-of-12 from the field and also had six assists and six rebounds for the Mustangs (8-7, 2-3 WAC). Eric Castro had 14 points, going 3-for-3 from the field and 8-of-8 from the line for SMU. Kris Lowe also added 14 points.
Eric Walton scored 16 and had seven rebounds for San Jose State (5-10, 0-5), and Brett Lilly added 15 points.
SMU led 34-31 at halftime and pulled away after shooting 56 percent from the field in the second half to San Jose’s 33 percent.
