Furman 75, New Hampshire 52
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP)—Karim Souchu had 21 points and 10 rebounds as Furman jumped out to a big lead and never let up in a 75-52 victory over New Hampshire in the Poinsettia Classic on Saturday night.
Freshman Jason Patterson added 14 for the Paladins (6-7), who will face Dartmouth for the tournament championship Sunday. The Big Green advanced with an 86-74 win over Stetson.
Marcus Bullock scored 13 to lead the Wildcats (1-7), who play Stetson in the consolation match.
Patterson scored eight points during the opening run on a pair of 3-point shots and a slam.
The Wildcats made their only serious challenge when they scored 12 straight to close things to 58-45 on two Bullock free throws with 4:44 left.
Furman followed up with a 13-2 run to lead 71-47 on Souchu’s 3-point shot with 1:44 to go.
The Paladins advanced to the title game for the 12th time in the tournament’s 23-year history. They won the championship six times and were runners up last year to Gardner-Webb.
