MADISON, Wis. (AP)—Wisconsin, led by Freddie Owens with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, dismantled New Hampshire 85-36 Wednesday night.

Kirk Penney added 16 points for the Badgers (6-1) as they overwhelmed their visitor from the American East Conference.

New Hampshire (1-6) was led by Ronnie Dennis with 12 points.

The Badgers’ Devin Harris hit 4 of 5 field goal tries for 15 points, while Alando Tucker finished with 10 points and six rebounds for Wisconsin.

The Badgers shot 54 percent from the field and forced 25 New Hampshire turnovers.

New Hampshire made only 15 field goals, shooting 31.9 percent from the floor.

The game marked the sixth time in seven games the Badgers have scored 80 or more points. Prior to this year, Wisconsin hadn’t reached the 80-point mark in five games since the 1995-96 season.

Coach Bo Ryan used the lopsided matchup to give seldom-used bench players quality time throughout the second half, including Andreas Helmigk, Clayton Hanson and Ray Nixon.

The Badgers put the game out of reach less than 10 minutes into regulation, building a 25-4 lead at the 11:34 mark.

Freshman Alando Tucker, making his second consecutive start, had the fans on their feet with two monster dunks, including an alley-oop from Harris, early in the game.

The crowd came alive late in the first half with chants for junior center Dave Mader, following a dunk and two rejections on the same New Hampshire possession.

Mader, scoreless in Saturday’s game against UNLV, finished with eight points.
