SAN DIEGO (TICKER) —Bobby Knight faces a familiar face when 22nd-ranked Texas Tech closes out non-conference play with a visit to San Diego State.

Knight is facing Steve Fisher, who he opposed for the better part of a decade in the Big Ten Conference. When Knight was at Indiana, he faced Fisher’s Michigan Wolverines 16 times and went 10-6.

In his second year with the Red Raiders, Knight has seen this season’s team get off to a quick start. They have won four straight since a 67-62 loss at Wyoming on December 14 and own wins over Minnesota and Houston.

On Wednesday, the Red Raiders posted a 62-48 home win against Houston. Kasib Powell scored 21 points and Pawel Storozynski added 14 as Knight improved to 796-299.

The Aztecs’ six-game winning streak is their longest since 2000-01. They have not won seven in a row since opening the 1984-85 season with seven straight wins.

On Friday, Tony Bland scored 21 of his season-high 29 points as San Diego State (8-3) posted a 79-69 win over Loyola Marymount. Bland, a transfer from Syracuse, averages 14.1 points per game and center Mike Mackell leads San Diego State with 17.2 and 6.1 rebounds per contest.

The win was Fisher’s 100th game with San Diego State. He is 48-52 over that span.
