Kentucky’s Davis is our freshman of the year, but he’s not the only ‘Cat on our Freshman All-America team

The Yahoo! Sports national freshman of the year is the same guy who was our national player of the year.

Kentucky’s Anthony Davis was the No. 2 player in our recruiting rankings last year, but he played far beyond his years all season. Davis was a huge force on the defensive end, setting an NCAA record for most blocks by a freshman and he also affected countless other shots.

Davis is an excellent ballhandler for a guy his size, and his offense – while not as advanced as his defense – did get better as the season progressed. His ceiling seems unlimited; once he adds 15 or 20 pounds to better handle the bulkier big men he will see in the NBA, it’s easy to see Davis being a dominant double-double machine for at least a decade.
