Mack to coach Xavier
Xavier assistant coach Chris Mack will be named the program’s next head coach, a source close to the search told Yahoo! Sports. Mack will replace Sean Miller, who was hired last week by Arizona.
Mack, 39, has no head coaching experience, but he played for Xavier and was a two-time captain before graduating in 1992. He spent three seasons as an assistant to Skip Prosser at Wake Forest before returning to his alma mater in 2004 to work under Miller.
Xavier, which went 27-8 last season, has won three straight Atlantic 10 titles. The Musketeers lose just two players from last year’s team to graduation.
