UCLA’s Honeycutt out with leg injury

  • Print

LOS ANGELES (AP)—UCLA’s Tyler Honeycutt will be out 3 to 4 weeks with a stress reaction in his right tibia.

Coach Ben Howland said Sunday the freshman forward was injured a day earlier in practice and an MRI confirmed the injury.

The Bruins open the season on Nov. 16 against Cal State Fullerton.

    iceman,
Agree 100%. I was at the game. I think i threw up in my mouth at least 6 times. Like you said the draft has killed them and there aren't any top recruits coming in as of right now. If they can land Harrison Barnes from Iowa that would be huge but i think he will end up at Duke or Carolina unfortunately. Howland needs to adapt his coaching style to the players he has. He needs to let this team get out in transition instead of the half-court ball-screening that runs the whole shot clock and they get a crappy shot. There are still athletes on this team but he needs to let them go instead of containing them. That is why Jrue Holliday was useless last year. He needs to let a guy like that have freedom to use his skills instead of having no room to do anything with all the screening going on. With that said, it more than likely will be a long year even if Howland does change some things up. All these guys being injured already surely doesn't help either.

I'M a UCLA fan and this team is already in trouble. They beat an NAIA team by one point in an exhibition game and God knows how they can score. There are no signed recruits that I can see in the next 2 years that are elite. The NBA draft has taken much of the luster of the Bruins. I think it will be a long year.
