LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP)—Sherron Collins scored 19 points and Cole Aldrich had 13 points and 13 rebounds, leading No. 1 Kansas past Fort Hays State 107-68 in an exhibition game Tuesday night.

Xavier Henry, Kansas’ 6-foot-6 prized freshman, made a 3-pointer on his first shot and finished with 14 points against the Division II Tigers.

Collins, one of Kansas’ two preseason All-Americans, scored 10 points in the final 3 minutes of the first half, hitting two 3-pointers, two free throws and a two-point bucket for a 54-35 halftime lead. Tyshawn Taylor had 15 points.

Corbin Kuntzsch had 17 for Fort Hays.

FACT: Kansas had two chances to beat Michigan State last season and it didn't happen.
FACT: Kansas is returning the same team this year that MSU beat last year.
FACT: Michigan State had to play through both Louisville and Uconn to get to the Championship game.
FACT: There are no facts to support that Kansas is a better team than MSU at this point. Only speculation based on their talent.
FACT: Do you know how many teams were touted as being the next champions based on talent only to fall flat on their faces? More often than not.

We will see who goes farther in the big dance this year. A preseason ranking that's based on pure speculation is not worth a hill of beans.

DookieSence1973 The Dean Dome is big but I dont just Bleed Baby Blue for the B.Ball team. Go to any UNC sporting even and you'll see ( Not hear what I mean ) As for the reply to my post about Duke fans; 1 Your fans dont have the PASSION for your team to want to be a part of there game that bad. 2 Its apparent that you where born with an education and have'nt attended a college ( Lucky you ) 3 I call bull sh!t I remember watching games with empty seats in the student section, Which by the way was whom I was refering to when I said ( sleep in the rain ) As for our Roy Toy, I'm sorry your lease expired and the manufacturer had to reposess him !! Thanks bye the way, but atleast like you said; YOU HAVE YOUR SELF RESPECT We'll keep our Championships!!!!!!!!! But seriously, Kansas does have a much better shot at anouther title than anybody else this year and sence I like KU ( not all the sencitive fans so much ) I wish them luck but they may not need it.....

Maybe the reason us Kansas fans don't sleep out in the rain for tickets to a game at Cameron is actually a couple of reasons:
1.) Why would we want tickets to a game at Cameron unless Kansas is playing?
    2.) We're smarter than that.
3.) Our games are sold out long before that.
    Perhaps that's it. Who knows?
    But in the meantime...

Last time I checked this was about KU beating Fort Hays State...not UNC, MSU, and any other teams that were mentioned on here. KU was the definite surprise team last year, and they returned everyone, and even added a top 5 recruit that had 14 points in his first college game. Yes it can go either way, but as of now, they are the number 1 team and instead of bashing KU for losing to a somewhat good team last year, why don't you guys focus on this year? There's a reason why they're number 1. They may live up to it, and they may not. Why don't we wait until the season actually starts to see which it is.

Scott, don't sell the tarbaby fans short. They are great fans. Problem is the Deandome. Big, beautiful, big. It was ALOT better at Carmichael! I'm old enough to have had the pleasure of experiencing Carmichael (and of courses A LOT of Cameron)...welcome was not quite as friendly at Carmichael - I think I made a fashion faux pax. I think tarbaby fans are just as good as then, but, well, the Deandome is BIG, and Cameron is still Cameron. Hope they NEVER change that.

OK, Let the sh!t talking begin. KU is worthy of a #1 ranking but then again so is MSU this year. The idiot that posted KU is better than UNC was last year and thats just scary. Please stop smoking that pipe before you get up here !!!Truth is that only two teams are up for #1 ranking and there 1 and 2, but neither are close to what UNC was last year. So now on to the guy that claims KU has the best fans; ( CRAP ! ! ! ) That title belongs to DUKE I'm sad to say.Your fans dont sleep in the rain and cold for tickets to a game at Cameron. ( I've been there and its Freeky LOAD ). I wish the UNC fan base would take notes from both programs ( We SUCK ) too quite. I dont know who started it but KU WILL stay Number 1 till mid season when they start to meet some threats ( Texas first challenge ) but then again its Texas whom by mid season has given up, who knows? Now for the facts; These are only B.S. games and dont count except for practice. 2 SH!T HAPPENS and players get hurt, give up, dont perform, exc. 3 Div 1 B.B. has no true power houses this year ( YET ) !!! With all this said, Any Team in the Top 10 could step up and become unreal. This is the type of year that one would expect a Mid Major to make a deep run in March. Kansas and MSU are about 1-2 levels above the rest of the feild but we got Old Roy so GGGGOOOOOOOO HHEEEEEELLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spartanbdb - HEY now....FYI you did NOT play the team good enough to win the ACC last year. That would be....wait for it....DUKE! They won the ACC Tournament thus they are the conference champion! (That irritates UNC fans to no end given the great year they had). Of course we need not mention meaningless little things like regular season champion (unless of course Duke takes that this year).

Dookie - ACC may prevail this year but I do believe the Big Ten is improved over last year.

That being said MSU is playing the team that was actually good enough to win the ACC last year, not you guys :-) (please ignore the results of both games where we played the team good enough to win the ACC last year :-) )

Good luck to you guys too. Should be a fun year.

Spartanbdb - Doug - Sportsnbikes.....PURE CLASS! Wow, 3 posts in a row written from fans who have clearly reached puberty (probably while ago). Hope people notice that 1) You don't have to win the national championship every year to be a great team and most important 2) You can actually be a great team (and fan) and still respect and appreciate the skills and talents of other teams.

Trash talk?? Oh my yes! It's fun. As a Dookie (one who's SON passed puberty about 10 years ago) I trash talk with ADULT UNC fans all the time. It's part of the fun. But underneath it all it total respect for both programs. UNC for Duke and Duke for UNC. Again, that's in the ADULT community. Nice to see the same holds up there in Big 12/Big 10 land.

Oh yea Spartanbdb - ACCs gonna kick some Big 10 tail in the challenge AGAIN this year. Big 10 sucks! (Just had to put that in to disguise my true age!) Good luck guys! Should be a fantastic year.

You speak like a true fan and one who LOVES his team but is also realistic! MSU has a great team and a great coach who is a proven winner. As a lifelong KU fan, I am a lot like you in the fact that I try and be very realistic when talking about my team. Whether or not KU wins or not remains to be seen, but, MSU's chances of winning it are just as good as KU or any other team in the top...it just takes the talent along with the great coaches that all the top teams have!

Good luck to you this Basketball season!!

Being a jayhawk fan I am hard on them every year I expect perfection which never happens... I also hope they get beat once or twice and have some close games... I really think this year they are more talented than they were in the 2008 season. My question is-------- are they too talented? Anyone with a basketball IQ will know what I am talking about so that leaves you out windstar....

Adam B - MSU lost to Grand Valley State in exhibition last year. Sure, you don't want to lose, but exhibition doesn't matter. Kansas, MSU, Duke, etc can all play high school teams in the exhibition season and win or lose, it just doesn't matter. All those games are for is to get players used to playing with each other and for the coaches to test the chemistry of the different lineups.

As far as Winstar's comment that KU won't be #1 long, that is just plain crazy. As a diehard MSU fan and alum, I would like to say that MSU is better but fact of the matter is that they are not. IMHO, KU is better than UNC was last year and that is just scary. Hopefully MSU's youth will develop and learn to play big time college basketball by the time the tournament rolls around and that shouldn't be an issue with Izzo as the coach but they will have to play out of their minds to beat KU.

It's not just the KU basketbal team that is number one, lets get that straight now! The fans of KU are number 1 also and until you've been to Allen Field House in Lawerence Kansas and sen the passion of both the team and fans, well, you would just have to be there to understand. I've been a KU fan for 44 years and I can tell you this, the players on that team have proven time and time again that they are number 1! Look at some of the GREAT NBA players to come out of KU, Wilt the Stilt Chamberlin, ever hear of Paul Pierce? Did anyone even watch the championship game when everyone counted them out and Chalmers hit that 3?!? You have just got to love this teams passion and determination. They are ranked number 1 because they earned it....period!!!! ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winstar ... please explain how you come to the belief that teams THIS YEAR should be ranked based on wins/losses LAST YEAR! By your logic (if I may use that term to describe your nonsense) Kentucky should not be ranked this year since they did NOTHING last year. Is that what I am to believe?

Are you really that stupid ... or just a MSU moron homer trying to pump up your boys?!?

Oh yeah ... and please explain what you saw in last night’s exhibition game that leads you to write this little gem of a commentary, " But, as it goes, KU won't be number 1 long as soon as the real season starts."

I am waiting anxiously for your thoughtful and enlightening analysis!

If you knew anything at all about sports you'd know why they are ranked number one...They went pretty deep in the Tournament last year, returned all their starters and had a top recruiting class, including a top 5 recruit.

Yes they did get beat by the better team last year...twice, there is no question about that.

I personally hope KU gets beat once or twice and then turn it on come March...just like they did in 07-08

For we all know.... 1 post = opinion; 3 duplicate posts = "too stupid to figure out that Post Comment button"; 6 duplicate posts = absolute, irrefutable FACT. Must be if you keep saying it. You need at least one more repetition. Right now, you are only at the "obnoxious" level, one more and you will reach the pinacle of absolute, irrefutable FACT!

MSU bashers, everyone plays no-name teams this time of year. It happens in NCAA Football and
    Basketball.
Now, to say that MSU was lucky that they beat KU, Louisville (the top seeded team in the tourney)
and UConn (another 1 seeded team) is just plain idiotic and your comments are like pollution.
MSU beat those teams because of their defense and their play. If they would have lost to Louisville
and/or UConn in the tourney last year, I may agree with you.
But when you have a run where you beat a pretty good USC team in the second round, a decent
team in KU in the third, the top-seeded team in Louisville, who I might add was blowing people out
by 40 all the way to the MSU game, and another 1 seed in UConn, regardless of the allegations,
you cannot say they were lucky. NO ONE was going to beat UNC last year, NO ONE, not even the
    Jayhawks.
But, as it goes, KU won't be number 1 long as soon as the real season starts.
