Dejavu anyone? Did his dad not do the same thing playing for the Chicago Bulls? He got fined every game he did not wear the same shoes as the rest of the team and eventually got the NBA to change the rules. But his dad had so much money form wearing the shoes he could afford the fines. Is his dad going to afford to buy UCF's entire athletic department new uniforms?

From what I have read (not just this article), my opinion is that addidas had decided they were ready to end the deal with UCF (for whatever reasons) ... thus an 'agent' with addidas went ahead and 'erroneously authorized' the UCF that young Jordan could wear a competitor's shoes as he wanted ... in turn giving addidas 'cause' to end the contracted agreement.
I think this will end up working out best for everyone involved. It's already put UCF, addidas, and young Jordan 'in the news' without really hurting any of the parties involved (regardless of what a few of you out there want to think/believe). Isn't that the 'goal' of advertising (addidas) and recruiting (UCF) and the young Jordan gets to 'be like Mike' too. What could have been better for all involved?
Just watch this situation unfold ... ... ... as if most of you writing the outrageous comments on this issue would have anything else to do with your time, eh?

I'm really disappointed in Marcus. Doesn't he realize that Daddy's Chicago Bulls Jersey ($49.99 at fine sporting goods stores) holds special meaning for his family? I can't believe he didn't insist on wearing that during the game too (of course alternating each game with Daddy's Tarheel Jersey -see eBay). What an insensitive child.

You people are really naive to believe that this was not planned!! If the school didn't allow it, he would not have been wearing those shoes, point blank!! The school KNEW what the consequences would be! They breached the contract on purpose! Now Jordan's brand will be used from now on!!

Which one holds "such special meaning for his family?" I don't know for sure, but I would imagine the XX3 - that would likely have the most millions of "special meaning" for his family.

Is it honorable and good that all of the other sports at UCF must now supply their own athletic equipment so that Dear Marcus can have his special brand of shoes? Do you think that is big of Dear Marcus that all of the other programs will now cut back so his decision not only brings down his own team but all others at the University?

I dont blame Marcus at all !! Everyone in this world would choose to where their OWN shoe rather than some other brand. I dont think it has anything to do with MJ at all and to make this about him is just plain Dumb...The other students are probably waiting for their new Air Jordans as we speek.

We as human must find reasons for our opinions that our worthy of compassion. Marcus did what any honerable son and student should do. He asked permission to wear the sneakers/ Meaning he abided by the authority over him also Marcus honered his Father/Mr. Jordan: Dear Marcus may your days be long and prosperous for Fortune Favors The Brave. UCF shouldn't have played him if he refused to wear the team uniform.

Hey Luvjeanya4life - don't tell everyone that they would do the same thing if their daddy was Michael Jordan. I don't care who my daddy is - if the school gives me a uniform, and shoes, I say thank you sir and wear it. Anyone with any sense of decency is not going to raise hell overs something so trivial. It is selfish and not only brings down the team but costs the University. This punk is getting a free ride through college and an opportunity to improve his game to where he could possibly go pro. I can't stand you unappreciative, whiney losers who think that anytime someone does something for you, it is not enough.

I think it is a sad day when grown people find the time to post such ugly remarks about a child. Marcus Jordan is no different from any other child wanting to follow in his/her parents footsteps. I agree, the coach knew who Marcus Jordan was from the beginning and knew which brand of shoe he represents. What difference does it make what type of shoe is worn. When you get down to it, it is all about greed and the comments are about jealousy. Don't hate this child because he has not had to suffer for the things that he has. Michael Jordan Sr. had to practice and sacrifice and work hard like all of the other players and should not have to be ridiculed because of it. Ask yourself this question: What would be you comments if this were your child?
