NCAA clears Stephenson to play at Cincy

CINCINNATI (AP)—The NCAA has cleared freshman Lance Stephenson to play at Cincinnati without having to miss any games.

There were questions about whether the 6-foot-5, 240-pound forward would be eligible because of his involvement in a documentary. Stephenson was a prep star in Brooklyn, but his off-the-court issues made many schools back away.

Stephenson averaged 28.9 points, 10 rebounds and 3.9 assists in his senior season at Lincoln High School. He was picked as the Big East’s preseason rookie of the year, and coach Mick Cronin calls Stephenson a difference-maker.

The Bearcats open the season Nov. 16 against Prairie View A&M.

    The only reason there was delay regarding Stephenson's clearance by the NCAA was one of amatuerism. He was a topic in a documentary filmed when he was a junior in high-school. The NCAA obviously determined, as his parents have stated all along, there was no payment involved so he is an amatuer with all the rights and priviledges there of.
    If for some reason you are refering to the incident the "young teenaged boy," was involved in touching another "young highschool girl,"? That matter was cleared up in the juvenile system. Handled like so many other "growing pains," incidents which occur all over the world for kids his age.
    If that is trouble written all over him.....then you should crawl back into your confessional booth and not attempt to watch sports!

    this kid was a heck of a player in high school.you can be dominate in high at 6'5 240lbs, but thats a problem in college.he's either gonna have to drop that weight to about 220lbs and play the 3 or god is gonna have to make him grow another 3 or 4 inches taller and play the 4. but he should or could average close to 20ppg in his first and probably only season at cinci.
