Binghamton halts off-campus basketball recruiting
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP)—Binghamton University officials say off-campus recruiting for the men’s basketball teams has been suspended.
Interim Athletic Director James Norris says coach Kevin Broadus won’t be allowed to go on any recruiting trips until next month. The decision comes after Friday’s announcement that Broadus admitted having contact with prospective recruits that violated NCAA regulations.
Norris said Sunday that all future recruiting trips by the basketball program must be approved by the athletic department.
Broadus’ admission was another blow to the college’s athletic program, which is under review following last month’s dismissal of six basketball players, including star player Emanuel “Tiki” Mayben.
Mayben was arrested on drug charges last month. He has pleaded not guilty.

A new gym is built and aspirations to become a basketball power grow. Coach Walker was at the reins, a good coach with great basketball IQ, but he couldn't deliver. They were a losing team with a losing program that suddenly becomes good . They win 27 games and reach the NCAA tournament. No one seemed to care that it happened so quickly.
...now this crap happens and the program will go to pieces. Sad and Sahmeful!! But that's what happens.... when you lay down with dogs don't expect to not get fleas. Hopefully student athletes will still be attracted to attend on the strength of a great education and top notch facilities. It will take years to become good again.

OK maybe BU can make a move but as long as Vermont has M.B. they are in the driver's seat.
Oh David Fine's stats from last season? 0.9 points, 0.1 rebounds and 0.2 assists.
Chandler and Crosby did not play at SUNY-B last season.

The five players released from the team were kicked off because of an incident related to the use of a stolen/lost credit card. What I heard was that one of the players came in possession of a credit card belonging to another individual who did not realize it was missing. The basketball players then tried to use the credit card to pay for a variety of things.
Again this is just a rumor and I have no way to verify this information.

This team did bring us the only good story from Binghamton, NY this year by making the NCAA tournament for the 1st time. It doesn't offset all the negatives from here this year, though.
So thanks for the great season last year and don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

I wonder how many players have been kept away from drug arrests because of the 'help' from these great schools!
