Savannah State beats Coastal Georgia 80-42

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP)—Deric Rudolph scored 21 points to lead Savannah State over the College of Coastal Georgia 80-42 on Monday night.

Savannah State scored the game’s first 11 points and pushed its lead to as many as 41, 58-17, on Rudolph’s 3 with 15:41 left to play.

The Tigers (4-7) limited the Mariners to just 28.6 percent shooting (14 of 49) and scored 24 points off 23 turnovers.

Savannah State led 42-12 at halftime, allowing the Mariners just three assists and holding them to 22.7 percent shooting in the period (5 of 22).

The Tigers outrebounded Coastal Georgia 41-27 and outscored the Mariners 46-16 in the paint.

Cedric Smith added 10 points and Preston Blackmon 10 assists, for the Tigers, who snapped a two-game losing skid.

Marcus Morrison led the Mariners of the NAIA with 12 points.
