San Diego easily beats La Verne 82-57
SAN DIEGO (AP)—Chris Gabriel scored a career-high 14 points and San Diego snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 82-57 win over La Verne on Monday night.
Ken Rancifer and Darian Norris also scored 14 points each for San Diego (2-8), whose only two wins have come at home against Division III opponents— the other victory came against Occidental in the season opener. Jordan Mackie added a career-high 13 points.
The Toreros, who led 29-22 at halftime, used six 3-pointers in the first nine minutes of the second half in a 29-9 run to take a 58-31 lead. Matt Dorr, who finished with 12 points, hit three 3-pointers and Devin Ginty added seven points in the run.
San Diego shot 59.3 percent in the second half, hitting on 7 of 8 3-pointers.
Trevor Woodland scored 16 points for the Leopards (3-4). John Leggett added 11 and Austin Napolitano had 10.
