Someone called them soft:
The video's a few days old, but I think it has greater impact now than it would
have a couple of games ago.
Capel apparently pushed the right buttons with that "soft" business.
As a player, there aren't many criticisms worse than being soft. I wouldn't have
guessed that any D-1 coach would show that much restraint in leveling the "soft" criticism.
Maybe it was for the benefit of the cameras (and great job getting that "SportsCenter"
reference in, coach), but I'd have expected the language to be a bit more
coarse and involve various references to parts of the female anatomy. I don't think there are a ton of coaches out there with boy scout mouths, but Jeff Capel's not in any danger of having his mouth washed out with soap.
The approach was apparently effective. After that Nebraska game, Oklahoma came
back to just annihilate Texas A&M, holding them to 37 points (and 10 in the
first half), and then going on the road to beat Oklahoma State by double digits
last night. Not bad for a bunch of softies.
