The Dagger - NCAAB

By now you know this story. Xavier sophomore Jordan Crawford dunked on LeBron James during a pick-up game at a basketball camp, Nike confiscated all video evidence of the posterization and debate ensued about whether the tapes were taken because they were embarrassing to LeBron or because of a long-standing Nike policy.

But we had yet to hear from either of the two main parties involved: LeBron or Jordan Crawford. Luckily, the cameraman who started this whole fiasco snagged an interview with Crawford the day after the dunking and, this time, Nike didn't jack his tape:

He was "geeked" about the dunk. I'm geeked that people still say "geeked".

Crawford's statement doesn't help answer the question about why the tapes were taken, but at least one of the two players involved is saying something, LEBRON. Your silence is deafening, King James.

Good for this kid. Too bad there's no proof to build his legend, but are we really shocked by this? LeBron is a self-absorbed corporate punk. He always has been. The only thing bigger than LBJ's corporate star power is his disgusting ego.

who cares? i've seen a lot of videos showing lebron being schooled. Even MJ gets posterized once in a while. Don't really see the need to make a story out of it.

Remember when MJ got crossed by Iverson? At least MJ will admit AI's skill. Time for Little Boy James to grow up and start acting like a man. Did you shake his hand or just quit right there?

No real sporting events to write about so you dive into the slime and try to make a story of something that happened in a pick up game that happened as a goof around at a Bball camp. Pretty Lame doofus

Wow!!!It has been a busy off season for Lebron James. He has been hugging headlines all summer long. From not congratulating the Magic, to going to the White Hose, wearing a funny shirt, and now this. Being a basketball mega superplayer such as Lebron James it is not easy to ignore that writers will create such stories no matter how silly it is just so they have something. I respect Yahoo Sports and their writers. I think they are very knowledgeable people who will not write stories just to have something to write about. But this???? I acknowledge that it was mistake in Lebron's part not to the Magics. But hey has any of his teammates (Mo Williams and Ilgauskas especially) offered any apologies to him or their fans for their lousy play. Lebron James has been a terrific player. He plays his butts off day in and day out. I think it is stab in the back when you write something about him when it is something outside the NBA arena. Don't tell me you will also write about him when he piss his pants. Blogging is no different with gossip stories. And I thought Yahoo sports is bigger than that. That YAHOO SPORTS is different that the ENQUIRER. First thing we know it Yahoo Sports will be writing about Aliens invading the Earth or humans having three heads. Sports writing is a profession so we should act professional. Writing something like this is so amateurish and belongs only in tabloids.

Does no one remember Jordan getting dunked on? It happens to everyone, just because Lebron is the best player in the league does not mean he is void of these plays.

Michael R your'e a toolbag. Bringing race into the picture (then writing LOL to illustrate how witty you thought you were) was a classless move. It has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with LeBron being the corporate golden calf. The fact that you thought about race, says a lot about you. As far as the fight with LeBron is concerned, you're an idiot, that's another point that didn't need to be made. If you're itching to throw leather, there are plenty of places you can do it, if you're anywhere in California, that would be nice, because if you want to make a YouTube fight video, I'm your Huckleberry. But I wrestled 97's in college, I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem since you want to throw down with a guy who's 6'8 and probably 280 right now.
The point made about this whole thing isn't that LeBron got dunked on by a kid, the point is, he made it a point to get the tape taken away. I was a big LeBron fan, but after the way he walked off the court, and now this..... He's going to have to show me something if I'm going to pull for dude again. Right now it's all about Dwight Howard for me, he seems like a real humble dude.
