The Dagger - NCAAB

Candace Parker did it seven times. West Virginia's Georgeann Wells was the first. Now another joins the pantheon.

Tuesday night, Baylor's Brittney Griner became only the seventh woman in the history of college basketball to dunk. Video, if you haven't noticed, is above.

Griner is a star 6-foot-8 freshman center at Baylor, averaging 15.0 points per game, a team high for the No. 8-ranked Bears. Dunking is nothing new for Griner, who threw down 52 times in high school, making her possibly the most entertaining female high school basketball player ever.

Yahoo! Sports blog Ball Don't Lie even debated whether or not she could play in the NBA. Regardless, with four years of college eligibility ahead of her, there's plenty more where this came from.

WNBA sucks. Why so excited that some girl dunked? Oh wait, hasn't it been going on in the NBA for decades. When a girl gets in the NBA, i'll take women sports seriously. Until then, Nnobody cares about this third rate, terrible excuse of a sport call the WNBA.

she is 6'8". I hope she can dunk. If she was in the NBA, she would never dress for a game. The only reason I am even taking the time to post, is that the story is so weak only 7 people have posted and I can actually see my comments show up.

She's from Houston, so she went to Baylor to stay close to home and make an impact right away.
Play in the NBA? Laughable...she'll be a star in the WNBA (no doubt), but no way could she play with the likes of LeBron and Kobe.
Weak? Maybe if you're a Div.1 men's college basketball player...it was a solid 8th Grader/Freshman-in-High-School dunk, which I would argue is pretty damn good for women's basketball!

Hey, you all can say the dunk 'sucks', but its definitely worth showing.
Also I went to my first WNBA game in Seattle and i have to say the game was a hell of a lot of fun.
The crowd was louder than a couple of NBA games I've been to (granted I saw sixers games before iverson when things were pretty blah) . .
Anyway, i'd take a WNBA game over a men's game with a boring crowd anyday. Of course I'd rather nothing than a celts, magic, dallas, lakers, games . . etc. . .

that was far from a dunk, she pushed the ball over the rim. Some people are so desperate to make women equal on every level.

Find me a story about a 6'8'' human being that cannot dunk a freaking b-ball. (paraplegics not included)... Now that would be news!!!!!! That was a lame dunk.

I dont get why this is a big deal. She is 6'8'' and can dunk. I think a better story would be the 6'8" person who couldnt dunk. Come on Yahoo, quit wasting my life posting this crap!
