IMAGINATIONLAND, NC -- On the heels of his historic unanimous selection to the AP preseason All-American team -- in which he received one vote from every single one of 72 voters -- and his team's unanimous No. 1 preseason ranking, Tyler Hansbrough was selected Monday to the NBA All-Star Team and the Baseball and Football Halls of Fame, the Real World/Road Rules veterans squad, Survivor All-Stars, and as Dick Vitale's first ever lifetime captain of the P-T-P'ers.

He was also awarded top honors on every Bravo game show, including Top Chef and Project Runway; was given the Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes for "Excellence in Basketball"; received the McArthur Genius Grant; and was elected, in a last-minute runoff landslide, to the Presidency of the United States of America.

President Hansbrough's 2008 dunk over UNC-Asheville's Kenny George will be preserved in the Museum of The Moving Image, among countless other honors. Hansbrough was also nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture About Basketball.

Saying he was "totally psyched" about "being president and stuff," Hansbrough accepted every award in the history of mankind today, the unanimity with which the awards were presented trumped only by the benefactors' enthuasiasm.

"OH MY GOD," ESPN senior basketball analyst Dick Vitale said. "MY HEART IS LITERALLY EXPLODING OUT OF MY CHEST, BAYBEE, WITH PRIDE AT THIS KID TYLER! DID YOU SEE HOW HARD HE ACCEPTED THAT AWARD, THE AMOUNT OF HEART HE PUT INTO REFINING HIS THESIS FOR THE GENIUS GRANT PRESENTATION CEREMONY! HE IS ONE OF MY C.O. GUYS, THE CHOSEN ONE, AND I MEAN THAT NOT LIKE LEBRON BUT LITERALLY LIKE CHOSEN BY GOD. HE'S ALSO A P-T-P'ER! BAYBEE!"

Project Runway host Tim Gunn delivered a now-famous speech at the show's finale, which lauded Hansbrough's gruff appearance and "courageous" style as vital to his success. Gunn urged Hansbrough to continue to "make it work."

Hansbrough is currently recovering from a shin injury that should sideline him for a few weeks. His shin was named "Awesomest Shin Ever" by the North Carolina University Hospital medical staff. Hansbrough will accept their award in a ceremony tomorrow.

so he's the "All-everything".big whoop.so he can bring UNC to the Final Four again and maybe, JUST MAYBE, win it. to what end though? he'll be the first overall draft pick to a really [profane]ty team who might not even put him in the starting line up. same goes to all you UNC punks. You aren't that special because you basketball team in #1 in the AP polls at least for the past 3 years. One way or another, there will be a huge underdog in your schedule that can confidently say that they shut down Tyler "Beaker" Hansborough and beat the Heels.

Anderson, friends: It's just a joke. The unanimity of the award is funny to me, not because Hansbrough doesn't deserve it, because he does. Just, you know, jokes. Easy now.

Why do you have to hate? He is just a hard working basketball player that gives his all. Yes we should make fun of him for this and not admire it. You must be from Duke.

As a tongue in cheek parody, this was pretty good...and I'm a UNC fan...
Sometimes the media overkill and slobbering can make it hard to appreciate many of the top talents/teams in the game. I guess that's the price we pay for 24 hour coverage on 17 cable channels, 44 internet sites, etc...

I guarantee you Thabeet from UCONN will challenge him for the National Player of the Year at the end of the season. The Big East is a much tougher conference and as the Defensive Player of the Year last year, instead of all the points Tyler Hansbrough can score, let's see him go up against Thabeet when he swats his ball from getting in the hoop.

Please Thabeet from Uconn ain't nothing for Tyler. People thought that Kenny George from UNC Asheville would give him alot of trouble but I guess he proved them wrong when he dunked over him. Kenny George is a much bigger player than Thabeet. Many have tried to go up against Tyler but he has proved everyone why he is the best. All ya'll haters are just mad because he is the best in the ncaa. And the Big East being a tougher conference than the ACC please. UNC is number one period the end.

It's funny that when duke was ranked # 1 and never won it all no one said anything. tyler is tyler and he's the person to beat at this time. first you need to learn how to write and put your thoughts together before you write down a statement for the world to look at and you don't even know what the hell your talking about. the tarheels will be the team to beat and when their in the final four and take it this years, hopefully you will have learned how to write. don't hate appreciate and get off his strap!!!!!!!!!!

    steven,
a lot of attitude going on there, what is up with that.?the big east is a tougher conference, look at the rankings, who are the top 2, and 3? and as far as thabeet, he will challenge anyone. he was the leading shot blocker in the country. and if tyler was so good, why did he not make it the the final last year/ no one is questioning that he is capable but to hand it to him on a silver platter, no way. he would foul out before the game was over against some of the teams like uconn, louisville, ucla, notre dame, duke, and perhaps texas. he simply does not jump well or play good enough defense. any big center, and thabeet is bigger and stronger than is hanbrough, and was the also the leading defensive player in the country, would take away his game. by way, you should learn how to speak correctly (take it this years?)

no attitude here man. just that if he was such a better player than tyler why has he not received the award? I am not saying that some other players won't outshine him in certain areas. the reason he gets awards is because he is that good of a player. that is why people like dick v. praise him so much. you want to say he is handed stuff on a silver platter. i don't know who you are talking about but tyler earns everything he gets. and by the way you want to tell me to speak correctly. read how your last sentence is(by way,) sounds like you need to learn to speak correctly. i agree with karen 100 percent teams like duke get ranked number one are even on the cover of like sports illustrated as being the future champions of that year. Then don't make it even to the final four.

That was a typo and who cares what Dickie v says? he is always partial to the ACC teams. he did not pick Kansas to win last year. there is a season yet to be played. Let's find out what happens. Steven, you are dead wrong about the Big East! it is considered that strongest conference this year with UConn#2, Louisville#3 also Pitt and ND in the top twenty. the level of competition is at the highest. if Price is healthy from his knee injury last season combined with Dyson and Thabeet, UConn will be tough to beat. Thabeet has gotten awards, he was the defensive player of the year in the big east. When he plays he can block anyone's shot. Hansbrough won't be able to sneak around him. Preseason is just a prediction, not a result. Most thought Memphis and UNC were the teams to beat in 2007.

Big East best conference? Maybe. It's good to get light like that, but the ACC face's being the best conference, or close to the top every year, thats the differance. So single out what one player might do against another, what make's carolina #1 is they are the best team. And do it consistenely every year. Williams say's the class comeing in next year might be his best ever. Imagine that. Carolina always face's the chance of going all the way, year to year. See, thats what you all are missing. The first UNC game I ever watched, was UNC vs UCLA in 68. They lost, but I was hooked then. I have seen Mcadoo, Ried, Jordan, JR reed Montrose, an on an on. Here it is tradition. Anywere else it's a good year.

Paul, what is your problem with 4 teams in the top ten the Big East is the best conference. UNC won one national title in the past 10 years. Roy Williams could not win one at Kansas. Duke same thing. Duke seems to get knocked out of the tourney ever year since. Last year UNC was supposed to win but Kansas took care of that. The traditional at UNC happened only with Dean Smith. UCONN has some of the best players still playing in the NBA. Do you recall the NBA CHAMPION CELTICS and RAY ALLEN's three pointers. Despite your history lesson all I can say is UCONN, LOUISVILLE, PITT, NOTRE DAME, GEORGETOWN, VILLANOVA, SYRACUSE, PROVIDENCE, MARQUETTE, CINCINNATI, ST JOHN, SETON HALL, RUTGERS. This conference is loaded. Give the credit where it is due, and not on one injured player.

Can't also forget West Virginia last year. And Thabeet has a 7 7 wing span, maybe that is why he was the leading shot blocker and leading candidate for National Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year. Numbers will not contradiction what he can do. Tyler Hansbrough would never match up with him. ACC is not the best conference.

tophuskiesboi... the big east might be deeper this year than years in the past, but the acc is traditionally a stronger conference. unc, duke, wake forest, and nc state are all teams within a 45 minute drive of each other. duke hasn't been the same the past few seasons, nc state has had a few bad years, and wake forest hasn't been the same since the departure of chris paul and eric williams, but unc has been consistently good since the class with felton, mccants, and may in 2003. north carolina is the unanimously #1 ranked team in the country for many reasons. they were arguably the best team last year if it wasn't for a breakdown in the final four.

put that point aside and north carolina is still the same exact team minus an inaffective quentin thomas and plus three 5 star freshman coming in. the team was looking like a national title contender even before potential first round picks (lawson and ellington) and potential second round pick (green) decided to come back to school. the talent and depth on this team is simply unreal. at point guard there is ty lawson, bobby frasor (led team to ncca tourny as freshman), and 5 star freshman larry drew, at sg sharpshoter wayne ellington, danny green (best 6th man in country), at sf marcus ginyard (one of best defenders in country), will graves, at pf deon thompson, 5 star 6'10" freshman ed davis, c tyler hansbrough (you know), 5 star 7'0" freshman tyler zeller.

The fact that Hansbrough will miss a few weeks to his injury will only help the team going into March. Zeller and Davis will play a lot more and gain a ton of experience that will help down the stretch. North Carolina is simply the best team in the country. I don't see how you can make an argument against Hansbrough either. I understand that unless you live in North Carolina you might not have seen ever game that he's played in for the past 3 seasons. He makes so many awkward looking shots that appear to be luck, but they simply are not. You might criticize his height or lack of athleticism, but his strength and work ethic is unmatched. He is also much more athletic than he looks. He has never had a problem banging down low with the big boys and getting his share of dunks and rebounds.

And Brad, there was no breakdown in the final floor, they were outhustled, outplayed, outscored inside and out. Mario Chalmers wiped the floor with them. Hansbrough was huffing and puffing and in foul trouble. Again, the Big East Schools such as #2 UCONN, #3 Louisville, and Pitt, ND, Georgetown, and Villanova would do the same with their style of play. They don't play half court. They play quick transitional basketball similar to Kansas style of play.
