Ah, the old block/charge call. As an official, there's nothing quite so difficult in sports to get right, and as a player or coach, there's nothing quite so frustrating to see called incorrectly. (Pat Knight has been down this road before.) Such is the nature of USC coach Tim Floyd's reaction to last night's block/charge at Arizona State, wherein Daniel Hackett drove into the lane, was cut off by a still-moving Arizona State defender, and was called for a charge. Tim Floyd was angry ... disproportionately so:
The best is Floyd's half-"hold me back" routine as he's leaving the court. It's like he wants to run back out and yell at the refs some more, but not really. At some point between getting kicked out and being ushered off the floor by athletics personnel, he decides it's probably just a better idea to watch from the locker room. And another ejected cowboy rides off into the sunset.
