The Dagger - NCAAB

It's just after 4 p.m. on the east coast on the 12th day of the college basketball season and, so far, members of the Big East conference have yet to lose a game. Cincinnati, Connecticut, DePaul, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, South Florida, St. John's, Syracuse and Villanova: They're all undefeated, a collective 36-0 so far in the young 2009-2010 season.

Yeah, a lot of those games have been played against the standard early season cupcakes like Marist and Prarie View A&M, but for an entire 16-team conference to play 36 games without a blemish is still an impressive feat. And it's not like every game was a guaranteed victory: Louisville beat Arkansas, Syracuse beat Cal, South Florida beat Virginia, Georgetown beat Temple, Villanova beat George Mason and, most impressively, DePaul (winless in the conference last year) stunned defending Missouri Valley champs Northern Iowa.

We wanted to post this now because given this evening's slate of games, there's a good chance the Big East won't make it to the weekend without a loss. Villanova just tipped off against No. 21 Dayton, while Syracuse plays tonight against the defending national champs, North Carolina.

Hey Benji, what team doesn't this early in the season? And Cal/Virginia, and George Mason are "no name schools" since when? ANY team that makes the final 65 at the end of the seasons is a name team.
But seriously, even if we one or two teams lose, can we still say that perhaps the power in CBB has shifted to the Big East? Wasn't it a few years ago, or even just recently that everyone was talking about the ACC, especially Duke?

Big 12 only has one loss. And the difference it makes? None.

Benjamin, you are a joke. North Carolina, I guess, is another no-name school. LOL.

and after playing teams from the SEC, no longer is the Big East undefeated.
What a waste of a story! Find something else to write about.

Big 12 and the ACC still both look better insofar as having teams who will win the national championship. Big East is looking to have a lot of teams that will get dropped first round. (If they make it in at all.)

The Big East puts the most teams in the torurnament every year!!!!!! Not the ACC or the Big 12. Yeah syracuse might have lost a game that doesnt count towards there record however you back it up with a A$$ kicking of cal and carolina then i would say Syracuse and the Big East are still going to be dominent again this year

The Big East should have the most teams in the tournament. They have more teams in their conference. Which is better, getting 8/16 in the tournament, or 6/12? Oh, right, it's the same.
Now, let's see how many teams get past the first couple rounds. The Big East did well last year. (Okay, not really. For having that many teams get through, not getting to the national championship was a joke.) Let's see what happens this year.

No, but Pitt did get to the Elite Eight, as did UConn, Vilanova, and Louisville. VIll and UConn were in the Final Four. UConn, and Pitt, traded #1 rankings back and forth. Pitt was ranked #1 twice...TWICE.
Can the ACC say that? They had 1 team (UNC) in the Elite Eight/Final Four, but so did the Big Ten. OMG! The Big Ten is a powerhouse too!
