Midnight Madness has come and gone, which means we're nearing a
precipice where college basketball personalities are going to start
popping back into our lives. It will seem slow at first -- a
Sportscenter segment here, a commercial or two there -- but before you
know it you'll be swarmed. College Gameday and Gamenight and
Gamemidafternoon and CBS' Road to the Road to the Final Four. It's all
coming back.
This year, a new face arrives. College fans, say hello to Mr. Greg Anthony.
You might remember Anthony from such films as Why Is Stephen A. Smith Yelling At Me? and Tim Legler's Breath Is Really Not All It's Cracked Up To Be, or in his starring role in Greg Anthony: Life Of An Inoffensive Basketball Analyst, Part Un. Anthony will be adding that inoffensiveness to CBS' studio show and broadcast analysis, taking over for the departed Craig Kellogg. (Kellogg, as you'll remember, is getting Billy Packer's lead broadcast role. Packer, as you'll remember, has been banished to the lecture circuit, where joylessness is an attribute in demand.)
How is Anthony? On the NBA, he's fine. Nothing great, nothing terrible. He'll do just as well on the college game. Even better, he doesn't have to get yelled at by that mean crazy man anymore. You're safe with us, Greg. You're safe now.
