The Dagger - NCAAB

At 2-5 in the Pac-10, Arizona itself might be a bit of a doormat, but that doesn't make it OK to just go around and wipe your feet on Chase Budinger's face.

That's what Houston's Aubrey Coleman did to Budinger yesterday, and while I can't say for sure that I know the man's intent, you know, he did stomp on a guy's face, showed no signs of offering any kind of apology, and smiled while receiving a congratulatory "Hey, way to step on that guy's face!" high-five on his way off the floor. To me, that's unsportsmanlike.

Arizona went on to win 96-90 in overtime, despite the fact that Houston led 63-51 at the time of the face-stomping. Consider that your daily dose of karma, Mr. Coleman.

Personally, Someone from houstons team should have been down at the locker room waiting for that guy to go in and change. Then push his ass down and step on him like he stepped on that guys face. Coming from a black male, this guy is a shame and a disgrace to who we are. And then to have other black males shaking his hand after it happened and he was being escorted out.... classless and tasteless human beings and I hope their families are shunned like people who wore the scarlet letter upon their chest.

Check out film from the 1992 East Regional Final in Philly. This was the game between Duke & Kentucky that has been labeled by some as the "greatest ever". The media "golden boy", Christian Laataener (the speling is wrong I know...but I'm not a fan of his) was involved in a similar incident with a UK player (Feldhaus, I think) under the basket. The only difference was that he stomped the guy's chest rather than his face as in this incident. No foul called, he remained in the game. The "shot" that all the talking heads like to show should have never occurred because he (Laatener) should have been ejected immediately. This was shown on CBS and the announcers just brushed over it.

Penders is an idiot!! All you have to do is see how many steps the dude took after the foul and before he stomped the dudes face. He took at least four. Penders can go suck on something.

Wow. Houston is trash, the player is trash and so is the coach. And if they don't kick him off the team and suspend him for a year, the NCAA is the worst of all. Exactly why college sports such so much these days. A bunch of thugs with entitlement attitudes...Just like most pro teams

Real classy University of Houston. really shows what a great program and what great "athletes" Tom Penders is developing at Houston. high-fives by teammates and smiling on the way out of the gym. CLASSY!!! Way to reinforce Coleman's actions by defending him Tom. great job you're doing!

This is really bad for basketball and sports. The Ref's made a horriable mistake on this situation. Not only the player involved: KICKED OUT of the game. ALL PLayers high fiving should have been Kicked out too and anyone supporting this incident should have been escorted out of there.........

Look at it carefully ,He didn't really stomp on the guy's face. You people are so damm soft, like girly men. He deserved to get crushed for setting a block that high out on the court, you can get hurt or end a guy's career. Budinger's a scrub. I hyperexttended my knee in a college game due to the same kinda incident. I bet Budinger will think about it next time he does that.

First off, Arizona isn't the 'door mat' of the Pac-10. Secondly, mess with Chase Budinger and you will pay with your life.

That is sooo disgraceful coming from Coleman. Jeez, he deserves a long term suspension in my eyes. That type of stuff just shouldn't be happening in basketball, especially college ball. What really gets on my nerves is Coleman high fiving his teammate at 32 seconds. Coleman is a Di*k, basically.

I think Budinger initially flopped on the contact to draw the charging foul..
and after he flopped, he should have rolled and covered his head iwth his arm..
meanwhile, ...Aubrey just stepped to get his balance, he didnt stomp...you can see it in his eyes, because he didn't look where his foot was landing.....should have been an no call

Black or not - it is very hard to even credibly say that the player didn't intend to step on his face - the smirk and ensuing high fives seal the deal in terms of intent and lack of remorse if it was an accident.

Funny thing, I didn't see a color in the video, or a white guy or a black guy. I just saw a stupid guy, with poor or no values, doing something stupid, and being encouraged to be stupid by even more stupid team mates, and comments from an even more stupid coach who is supposed to teach him how to win and give him some values, and understanding of what it means to be a man. But I guess first the coach needs to know what that lesson is, and then he can teach it to his players. Funny, with all the dissin we do on Bobby Knight, do you think you would ever see one of HIS players pull a stunt like that and not get verbally abused? Regardless of what color he was? Bobby Knight knows how to make men out of boys. And Tom Penders is an embarassing tool.
