The Dagger - NCAAB

With 11 minutes left in the second half of the Michigan State-Kansas game, All-Porno Name second-teamer Idong Ibok checked in the game. After his teammate sank a free throw, Ibok went under the hoop, grabbed the ball and attempted an inbound pass ... for Kansas. As you can see, no less than three other people were confused about this, including the refs, Sherron Collins and those on Michigan State's bench.

Inbounding: Idong's doing it wrong.

Classic. His team was down so he was just doing everything he could to get his team an extra possession. Who could blame him? Well-played Idong Ibok!

FYI, that is and should have been called a technical foul.

I SO much want Michigan State to beat Louiville. I mean, I am a Big 10 fan. But I know Louiville is good. It will be tough for State to win, but they can do it.

Big Ten is better than people thought. I already knew it. They arent the best like the Big East but Id say their second even though there's only one team left. Big Ten was mostly lower seeded and werent even supposed to win anyway but they were still better than people thought and scoffed about. Even OSU was like 9-O and beat some high ranked teams before they played the big ten. Sienna and a few other misc teams were also underrated. OSU should have beat Sienna but they are both way underrated and either could have beat louisville. Minnesota, Wisconsin, OSU, Mochigan, Illinois were all underrated. The Big Ten was just overall very tough this year a beat each other too much. Their competition is the Tourney proved it. Maybe not as good as the Big east but second by a wide margin.

Rough overly physical play such as the Big 10 is famous for should not have been allowed to play out in the Kansas game, it should have been a neutral called game not favoring either teams style of play. Whatever happened to finesse in basketball? I was a neutral viewer but the questionable calls by my count were 7 to 1 favoring MSU.

Wow, I missed that. Oh yeah, that's because CBS showed 99% of the UNC/Gonzaga snoozefest (I live in NC, maybe that's why). I kept looking at the score in the upper right corner and saying, "Wow, looks like a basketball game is going on somewhere." Seriously, CBS cut into the Mich St./Kansas game with less than 1 minute to go and then went back and forth from that to UNC/Gonzaga! Absolute insanity. I hate CBS for that.

helen do you know anyhting about basketball, 7 to 1 in favor of state for fouls really. State got two of the worst calls against them in the final minute. You might want to stop commenting on basketball as clearly you are lost on this matter.

Allwhiterabbit are you on drugs? Big 10 was the second best by a wide margin? Please! Big 10 4-3 in the first round Big 12 6-0, Big 10 had 2 in the sweet sixteen Big 12 had 3, Big 10 has 1 in the Elite 8 Big 12 has 2. Big 10 is a distant 3rd this tourny, and was lucky to even get 1 team into the elite 8. It wasn't a very well called game, it did favor MSU in the physicality that was allowed. KU did get a trip call toward the end that was just a bad call, but no one realized it until the replay. MSU should have got T'd up for Ibok brain lapse. But KU lost because of turnovers, and an awful lot of those second half turnovers especially on Collins and Aldrich should have been called fouls as they were stripped.
And if either OSU or Siena could have beat UoL then one of them would have.

Helen, you are exactly right. MSU got away with so many fouls it was pathethic. And the refs called a couple fouls late when it was too late to matter, and if anything that stopped KU from being able to shoot a 3-pointer. Congrats refs you handed that game to the Spartans. I love KU and don't mind seeing them lose when they deserve it but they out-played MSU and got cheated in that game. Well, hopefully they'll learn from it. Better yet maybe someone will force these refs to start calling fouls instead of letting so many go by. This has clearly been the worst officiated tourney ever! I'm quickly losing interest in basketball, it's turning into football out there.

Jayhawk cry babies----they get every break every year and still you whine. MSU played tough physical basketball and the young Hawks couldnt hang. Self is a great coach and they'll be back. Wayne and Helen probably too young to remember the home clocking game MSU/Kansas back in the mid 80's. Hmmmm it all evens out

Wayne are you kidding me? Kansas had all the opportunities to win but they squandered them. State played locked down defense and out rebounded them. Maybe you should learn about basketball before you talk about it.

apparently some of you spartan bashers didnt watch the game. KU was actually the more physical team! there were about 5-6 times in the game a spartan would have a rebound, get jarred/grabbed by KU on the arm (usually a morris brother) and KU would come up with the steal/rebound (without a foul of course). the refs called every push on Suton/Ibok against Aldrich - I don't know what there is to complain about other than MSU's coaching. WIth all due respect to Izzo, a low possession game against a vastly less talented opponent (by this I mean KU was basically a 2 man team) is poor strategy. MSU is lucky to have won this one, not because of the refs, but because they played poorly.

I'm sorry, but stop blaming the refs. MSU won that game fair and square. An even duel.
Again, who cares what league is better, best, bestest. Stupid, pointless crap.
And CBS sucks. The announcers were awful. Like the one shot at half where it took them like ten minutes to determine that the ball was out of his hands. It was clear after the second slow-mo! And the one where the guy shouts "THAT'S A FOUL, the refs made the right call"... and then as soon as the replay shows, oh... turns out he tripped over his own feet. And the fact that they kept showing LUPE FREAKING IZZO. The guy got more excited about her than he did about the actual game.
Not to mention their coverage is awful. I was fortunate because I'm in the midwest, so I wasn't stuck watching that crappy Zaga game. They'll cut away at final shots, but then when they have a time out or some other break they sit there being stupid.
    WOAH CBS, YOU SUCK!

i was at the game, M. St put the crowd into snooze mode in the first half from there boring little 10 style play! Thanks M.ST we all missed the second half because we were asleep or rolling up TP in the bathroom! The Big 10 is way over rated, best non confrence team in the big 10 was Michigan with wins over Duke and UCLA..Minnisota played 12 non confrence teams whos RPI said wait for calculation! OSU showed they were vastly over rated by losin what was a HOME game by getting out rebounded by 20! M.St the lone remaining team has played terrible and have won only on what i believe to be good coaching, barely getting by 6th place Pac 10 team USC! Purdue would have dominated this confrence had they been healthy and if anyone dont believe that they are simpy retarded! Since when does beating mediocre ball teams in confrence make you a good confrence! Illinois scored 33 points in a game..at home for gods sake! Boring basketball, no lottery talent, no big men(not even a true center on all big 10 first team, only true center made third team all big 10), Big 10 basketball is like watching JV high School girls!! Best Big 10 teams are playing in the Girls tourney...Late!

helen and wayne, you are obviously being sarcastic. Apparently the others didn't see your humor because KU got the benefit of many more calls than MSU did... phantom trip calls, numerous over the back no calls, any inside physical play foul calls went against MSU, etc... You were kidding right??? Seriously..??? Did you actually watch the game? Not to mention the CBS guys gooing all over themselves for KU most of the game...
I'm a big ten guy, but have to say it's big east this year by a mile. Then, a smattering of great teams from the other conferences. Looking forward to some good games today and tomorrow. Go MSU in an upset!

I from Michigan but but had a job that forced me to live in Kansas for 16 years where I had to put with so many obnoxios KU fans like Helen. The game was fairly called and if anything the phantom tripping call was ridiculous. At least we didn't have to deal with a Kansas tiemkeeper like we di in 1986. Way to Spartans you desrve it.

i agree that the big ten did show highly in this tournament. comparing the records of the big 12 versus big 10 is a little decieving, since the big 12 had the ability to win games they were supposed to win. with a 2 seed and two 3 seeds, there is no suprise here that the big 12 should have had 3 in the sweet 16, the tournament is designed that way.
fact is that the big ten was overall underrated going in, and thus played tougher competition in the onset. michigan won a game they weren't supposed to win (clemson). wisconsin beat florida state and weren't supposed to. purdue beats washington, that wasn't supposed to happen. the only "bad loss" the big ten suffered would have been illinois, losing to w. kentucky, the same school that upset drake last year.
