This year, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson are celebrating the 30-year anniversary of their epic 1979 showdown, which pitted Bird's Indiana State underdogs against Johnson's Michigan State squad. The respective colors of these two teams are light blue and green. You could look it up. Instead, M&M's went with green for Bird and yellow for Magic, like so:
Whoops. Obviously, that's a reference to each player's pro career, but since we're not celebrating the anniversary of anyone's pro career -- mostly because careers don't have anniversaries -- this is advertising failure of the epic variety. Weak, M&M's. Weak.
