It seems like there's been a lot of physical play this afternoon, but no play was more physical than this one. Oklahoma State swingman Marshall Moses lowered the boom on Pitt point guard Levance Fields with a crushing screen. Listen to the impact and the sound of Fields hitting the floor. Thomp.
Everyone was okay, so no harm, no foul, I suppose. Bill Raftery was quick to say that there was no malicious intent on the play, and I think he's right, but I also think it's worth a second look. Moses hands the ball off, and then prepares himself for impact. Whether he saw Fields and said, "Here's a chance to lay this guy out," or he saw Fields and said, "There's about to be contact, so I better protect myself," it's impossible to know. I'll give the young man the benefit of the doubt.
What say you, Dagger readers? Dirty play or unfortunate collision?

a "good screen"? kinda seems like your textbook blocking foul (if that's the right call, not that big a basketball fan). he's moving and leaning into fields, clearly not a proper or legal screen. and i would really like to see you get blindsided like that. i'd put the over/under at 10 minutes for the amount of time you spent laying on the court.

It's time for all the whiners that have been crying about the mid-majors that didn't get in and the fans of .500 teams from the big 6 conferences that are in the NIT about how they got screwed to shut their yappers for another year.
Let the real tournament begin now!

But having been on the Fields end of that play TOO MANY TIMES myself, I'd say it was a blocking foul (as called), but not intentional.
The REAL problem is that Fields should have known better (had his head on the swivel)
Fields should have gone under the screen rather than OVER.
Dude wasn't gonna shoot a 3 from that point on the floor.....

player is moving its clearly both in the wrong. I feel that this player attacking the play should get what he deserved and that is a good all in all "knock down" by actually his own power. Just like a charge foul.....if he would have eased up on the attack then nothing would have happened.
