As for UCLA being hated, well, for a school that holds 11 NCAA basketball championships and 100 NCAA championships overall shouldn't they really be hated more than Duke? It's offensive to even compare the two schools on any level, UCLA is a world class school and Duke is just another self-important east coast school. My personal position is if you want to hate UCLA, hate them more than Duke. Hell, hate the entire Pac-10 - they only have 386 NCAA championships and some of the best universities in the world in that conference. After all, aren't you supposed to hate the best? I can assure you, Bruin fans (the real ones at least) aren't bothered that their team is hated. They get that the fans are pissed at the officiating, but it's easier to target the team. (Kind of like the people who hate Hansbrough. It's easier to hate him than to hate Vitale, Bilas, and all the other ACC nutjobs in the media that verbally fellate the kid. Or root against him so they will be forced to shut up.)
And Josh Shipp is one of the biggest disappointments in UCLA basketball history. At some point a shooting slump has to become "well, he's just not very good."

Second, you can't blame the players (or the team) for calls that the officials made. It's not like Darren Collison had the ref's whistle in his hands when he "blocked" Johnson's shot. And it wasn't as if Kevin Love was strangling the referees at the end of the Cal game. Or Josh Shipp at the end of the Texas A&M game. The officials are human, they make mistakes, and calls go either way. In all of those games, the Bruins still had to make some gut-check plays to pull out the victory. Everyone acts as if the refs gave them the game.
Lastly, Kevin Love and Tyler Hansbrough... both of them have question makrs at the NBA level. Love wouldn't play center (probably) as he is undersized, and would probably shift to power forward, so I don't see him guarding Yao Ming much. And Hansbrough, while an excellent college player, just doesn't have NBA athleticism and an NBA body. Sorry to say that.
