Is stomping on your hated rival's court-sticker mascot a big deal? Only if you live in Kentucky.
That's what happened Sunday night at Freedom Hall In Louisville when a group of Kentucky players -- who play UNC-Asheville in Freedom Hall Monday night -- took the encouragement of a few fans to stomp on the gym floor Cardinal in a "semi-choreographed routine," according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. (Hat tip: Flubby.) Patrick Patterson was first to plant his feet, and DeMarcus Cousins and Josh Harrellson joined suit soon after.
Coaches stopped the players from going too far -- John Wall was apparently headed over to join in before an assistant yelled at the group -- and John Calipari is none too pleased with the effort ...
“Like I said, we do dumb things,” Calipari said.
... but if this as dumb as Kentucky's players get all year, Calipari will have had one of his easiest coaching jobs in history. Because this is not a big deal. Sure, maybe Louisville fans won't like it, and people who hate Kentucky already (again: Louisville fans) will chalk it up as another reason to hate the new-look Wildcats, but really? Meh. This is more in the realm of "fun rivalry" than "openly disrespecting opponents." Even on the court, there are far worse crimes to be committed.

really? only in KY. So, if UNC did this to Duke, no big deal. If Bama did it to Auburn, eh. Only in KY? what a stupid thing to say.
shouldnt there be some kind of rules or something before you can write a professional blog.

Hopefully this isnt the beginnig of the embarasment for Kentucky every one claims Calipari will bring. He is rite that we all do dumb things but as the head coach, ultimatly he is responsible for the actions of his team. Especially when there rite in front of him. Hope for Kentuckys sake he gets better control of those punks! Yea I said PUNKS and would say it to there face so do waiste your time even asking.

As for the players; There is a reason wall didnt go to UNC , Duke , or Kansas. They would'nt have him after his little breaking and entering gig. All three schools stoped perssueing him that very day and all offers where removed from the table for him. Plus he just anouther one and done trying to build on his NBA stock at the expence of Kentucky. Just wait and see. Not all of his kids are bad but just like kids, they will get into trouble with-out supervision and good role-models. Just look at what they do on and off the court ! ! !
